¿Aboout LIFE? LIFE is the EC's only financial instrument exclusively for the development, application and enhancement of Community legislation and policies on the environment. In its bid to promote sustainable development, LIFE explores new solutions to the European Community's environmental problems and seeks to integrate the environment into other European Union policies. Launched in 1992, the programme is now in its third phase (2000-2004), during which time the environment has become a major factor in European politics. LIFE is divided into three areas: Nature, Third Countries and Environment. Our project forms part of the latter area. One of the projects selected from those put forward by Spain is Sinergia – Calidad y Respeto al Medio ambiente, which has been regarded as extremely important by the European Commission.
